My only best friend forever - mom
We all have that one best friend with which we share every detail of our life, our victories and our failures, our interests and our worries, seeking council and understanding. How many times have we been disappointed by our best friends? Felt that they don’t understand our view point, or that they can’t be bothered with our problems right now? I can tell you that even if I’ve gone through similar times with all my other friends, there is only one person in this world that has never faltered when I needed someone to talk to, and for which I’ve never been less than a top priority: my mother.
My mother is the only friend I know I can count on no matter what. She has never been too tired to listen to me complain, and I always turn to her when I am not sure about how I should deal with things. I talk to her every day, and I feel that sometimes she knows my friends more than I know them myself. She always gives me good advice and even if I don’t follow it or I tell her I don’t think she’s right, it always turns out she knew how to handle the situation better. I can’t imagine what I would do in life without at least asking myself the question: “What would my mother do?”
Maybe the bare truth she tells me about myself can hurt at times, and maybe she judges me too harshly, but in the end I can be certain of one thing: all the things she does and says are for my benefit.
The thing I appreciate most about her is that she was never too tired to discuss things with me, to explain even the simplest truths. Ever since I started asking her “Why?” about all the stuff in the world, she had the patience to sit down with me and make me understand how this world works. She is the reason for my inquisitiveness, and I owe her for fuelling my thirst for knowledge and my creative nature.
I think we all owe our mothers more than we give them credit for, and we should all take a moment to acknowledge that.
